Lincoln City’s away trip to Doncaster Rovers has been postponed following international call ups for the Imps.
The game was originally due to be played on March 28th, but will now likely be played during a midweek in April.
It was announced earlier this week that Ivan Varfolomeev was called up for Ukraine’s U-21 fixtures against Lithuania and Hungary’s youth sides, whilst Ryan One was included in the Scotland U-21 squad set to face Czechia and Portugal.
EFL rules stipulate that for a side to call a game off, three players must be called up for international duty. Although there has been no announcement as to who the third Imp is, there is currently no confirmation on the St Lucia squad set to face Azerbaijan next weekend, meaning Reeco Hackett may still be due a call up.
The question was asked in our Patreon Discord this week around whether this would be a positive or a negative for us? Ultimately, it makes little difference. We will now get a longer rest before Good Friday, but then we will play a Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday during the final month of the season.
From a fan perspective, a Saturday away game will always be preferred to a night game, but on the other hand, with Bolton’s game also called off, we will continue to match their fixtures, allowing us to not have to worry about games in hand whilst we sit there and calculate how many more points are needed.
