Lincoln City Promotion Rival Suffers Season-Ending Injury Blow

Bolton Wanderers will be without Corey Blackett-Taylor after the on-loan winger confirmed his current injury has ended his season early.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury during Bolton’s recent clash with Rotherham United and has now confirmed he will not play again this season.

Blackett-Taylor, who joined Bolton on loan from Derby County during the January transfer window, had made a strong impression at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, with two goals and an assist. Those involvements came as they beat Wycombe 3-2 with a late treble, and won 1-0 at Wimbledon: without Blackett-Taylor, they’d be five points worse off and out of the automatic promotion picture completely.

However, his campaign came to an abrupt end after he was forced off early in the game against Rotherham while attempting a shot. Bolton boss Steven Schumacher had already described the injury as serious, and the winger has now confirmed the worst, revealing on social media that his season has been cut short.

“I want to say a huge thank you for making me feel so welcome and comfortable,” he said.

“Unfortunately, my season is concluded due to my injury, but I’ll be here supporting the team to the very end.”

The injury is a major setback for Bolton as they continue their push for promotion. His pace and direct running added a different dimension to Bolton’s attack, and against us, I felt he was one of their brightest sparks.

Sadly (for him), Blackett-Taylor’s season as a whole has been disrupted by injury. He featured for Derby earlier in the campaign but struggled for consistent game time and fitness, which led to his loan move to Bolton in search of regular football. In total, he has made 17 appearances this season across his time with Derby and Bolton.

The timing of the injury is particularly unfortunate for Bolton, who are locked in a promotion battle with the Imps. They’re one of four teams that can mathematically catch us, probably one of two who harbour the faintest of automatic promotion hopes, the other being Stockport. They meet on Easter Monday in a massive clash that ultimately could also mean nothing at all.

Still, entering the most important part of the season, losing an attacking player who had already produced important goals could have a significant impact on the Tortters’ run-in, and affect what should be their push for promotion via the play-offs.
