The Imps’ final League One game, a celebration hopefully of a title-winning season, is now sold out.
The end-of-season event is usually one where everyone rocks up in fancy dress, but rather than being all dressed up with no place to go, we’re going somewhere. We’re going to the Championship via Burslem, and if you don’t have your tickets now, you’re not going to the game.
We’ve sold out our allocation of 3,000, meaning we get to say goodbye to the division for a change, rather than watching someone else do it. In 2024, we said goodbye to Portsmouth as they won 2-0 and were crowned champions. In 2025, we said cheerio to Wrexham as they went up in second, and descended on Lincolnshire in fancy dress full of spirits (high and liquid).
Now, it is our turn, and even a collapse between now and then won’t stop us being squeezed out of League One, like a zit, into the tissue of the Championship. We’ve already popped, we’re gone, all that remains is to say goodbye, and we’ll be doing that on the one away ground I have been to more than any.
Odd, it always seems to be Port Vale. 6-2 in our League Two title-winning season, lost 1-0 the week after we won at Wembley and won 2-0 as we embarked on the impressive, but futile, surge towards the play-offs in 2024. Now, we’re heading to Vale Park, the Wembley of the North, backed by 3,000 supporters all looking to wave goodbye to the third tier. Sadly for Vale fans, they’ll be doing the same, but going in the other direction.
I just wanted to big up the fact we’ve sold out, but we’re a bit short on words, so here is a bit more information from the official club site!
Port Vale information
Parking for visiting supporters is available, with two accessible spaces priced at £10 near the away end. These must be requested directly through Port Vale by calling 01782 655821 or emailing tickets@port-vale.co.uk. Additional matchday parking is also available to book online, with the Dimensions Leisure Centre car park recommended due to its short walking distance from the away stand.
Coach travel is being provided by the Red Imps Travel Association, with coaches departing at 11 am. Tickets are priced at £23 per person and can be purchased once match tickets are on sale. Supporters who require wheelchair access and wish to travel by coach should contact the ticket office on 01522 880011.
Please note that official away coaches now depart from the bus stop on Tentercroft Street. While parking remains available at the LNER Stadium, supporters are advised to allow enough time to reach the new departure point.
