Sheffield Wednesday assess Barnsley and Grimsby youngsters
Sheffield Wednesday have brought in Barnsley midfielder Jack Woodcock and Grimsby Town right-back Fortune Onoh for trial spells as they continue to assess potential additions ahead of the summer.
According to reporting carried by The Star, the pair are the latest players to spend time with the Owls during a period in which a number of trialists have been looked at by the club’s recruitment staff.
Woodcock is currently on the books at Barnsley, while Onoh is with Grimsby Town, and their presence at Hillsborough suggests both players could be available ahead of the next campaign.
The report also outlines a wider group of young players who have been assessed in recent weeks, including Frank Tattum, who impressed during a loan spell with Leamington after scoring five goals in eight games in March.
Other names to have spent time with Wednesday include Daniel Vanderpuye, Elton Simo, Feyi Afuape, Joel Martin and Matty Taylor, indicating a broad approach to identifying potential additions.
The focus on trialists comes as the club continue to look at ways to strengthen their ranks, with academy recruitment forming part of their planning ahead of the summer window.
