Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala paid tribute to his opposite number, Grant McCann, ahead of this evening’s clash at the Keepmoat Stadium.
City travel to Doncaster knowing a win would tie up the League One title. Even a draw is enough, and should we win it against Rovers, it will oddly reflect the situation in 1976, when a 5-0 win saw us clinch the Fourth Division title.
Ahead of the game, Michael talked up the opposition, suggesting that with just a couple of wins, they’d be a play-off chasing outfit, and praising Grant McCann in the process.
“Good team, really good team,” he told Callum Davies of BBC Radio Lincolnshire. “They have good coaches and a manager who knows what he’s doing.
“They had a great start to the season, went through a bit of a dip, but managed to come out of it.
“If they’d picked up a couple more results in that spell, they’d be right in the play-off mix”.

While the level of opposition rarely dips in League One, City have made it to the summit by not focusing too much on how good everyone else is, and instead focusing on their own game, something we expect to see tonight.
“(They’re) a very good club, and we’re under no illusions about how difficult the game will be. But again, we keep focusing on ourselves and concentrating, because we believe that if we’re at our best, we can beat anybody in this league.”
Images after Stevenage showed Rob Street looking like he’d been in a street fight, and Michael revealed that, despite no new injury issues, there are a few knocks and bruises in the squad, perhaps to be expected on game 44 of a season.
“There are a few knocks and bruises, which is expected given the type of game it was,” he said of the Stevenage game.
“It was always going to be physically competitive, with a lot happening in both boxes. That’s football, especially at this stage of the season.
“We’re trying to manage everything as best we can, from the medical team to sports science to the coaching staff. Everything is integrated so we can look after the players as we head into the final games of the season.”
The Imps will be without Adam Reach and James Collins for this evening’s fixture, with Freddie Draper and Josh Honohan also expected to miss out. City fans have also not seen Adam Jackson or Oscar Thorn for a few months, although they’re thought to be in full training.
