One Player From Every League One Club I’d Love Lincoln City To Sign

As we leave League One behind, I thought I’d quite like to pick a single player from each team I wouldn’t mind the Imps signing.

If you’re a fan of another team, I’m not picking your best player, merely the player who impressed me the most from your side. In some instances, it’ll be in direct relation to a Lincoln City need, in others, just a player who I thought stood out, had a little something or who had me smiling (inwardly) as he wound up our fans. They’re the players you secretly want, aren’t they?

Without further ado, 23 League One teams, 23 League One players, all of whom made an impression on me this season.

AFC Wimbledon – Junior Nkeng

Isaac Ogundere is the one I thought of originally, and I’d really like us to have him in our ranks. However, after the meeting between the two teams this month, it’s Nkeng who impressed me the most.

He’s the type of player I like: exciting on the ball, able to drop a shoulder and beat a man. I love that feeling when a player runs at a full back from the touchline towards the goal, and you just know he’ll beat him or get fouled. That’s Nkeng, and at just 18, I think he’s got a big future.

Barnsley – Reyes Cleary

It’s fair to say that very few Barnsley players impressed me during the course of this season. We faced them three times, and nobody really jumped out as excellent. I’m not picking this on reputation, I’m going with my impressions, and so the only one I really remember was Cleary.

He impressed in flashes against us, he looked like the player most likely to ask questions, and so he’s my pick, but honestly, Tykes fans, I can see why it’s been a tough season.

Blackpool – Niall Ennis

Oh, how I wanted this to be Tom Bloxham. I remember him at Morecambe and me thinking he’s one for the future, but he has a stinker against us.

If picking a Barnsley player was hard, picking a Blackpool player was harder. I know they spend a lot of money on wages, but they don’t get a lot of bang for their buck, not a lot at all.

I picked Ennis because his profile looked decent, and he came on against us at our place and was the only player who seemed to offer an outlet, but even in the 2-2 draw, I didn’t feel a single player stood out.
