Lincoln City Announce An Evening With Jez George

Lincoln City

Lincoln City sporting director Jez George will host an exclusive evening later this month, detailing exactly how Lincoln City won the League One title.

The Imps have enjoyed one of our finest seasons, easily the best in my (short) lifetime, reaching the Championship for the first time in 65 years.

Our achievements have gone beyond Lincolnshire; several national outlets and even The New York Times have given their say on how the Imps reached the second tier against the odds.

However, there’s one man who can tell our story better than most: Jez George.

City’s sporting director will host this exclusive event in the Branston Legends Lounge at Sincil Bank on Thursday, 21st May from 19:00 – 21:00. Two whole hours with Jez, somehow that doesn’t seem long enough! Funnily enough, two of our League One counterparts will be preparing for the play-off final at that point, which takes place on Sunday, 24th May.

I think at the start of the season, virtually every Imps supporters would have snapped your hand off to be involved in that fixture, even with our play-off record. However, Jez will explain how we managed to avoid the end-of-season competition and storm to the title with one of the best third-tier campaigns in English Football League history.

Although not included, supporters will also get a glimpse at the ongoing work at the LNER Stadium, with preparations for next season well underway. Truth be told, they had begun virtually as soon as the dust settled on the Imps lifting the League One title against Wycombe Wanderers last month.

Tickets for this event are priced at £50, and can be purchased by following this link: eticketing.co.uk/imps. I haven’t had the privilege of attending one of these evenings just yet, but I have been to fans’ forums where Jez has spoken, and he’s well worth listening to.

In terms of what to expect in a fortnight’s time, he will deliver an insight into what goes on at the Elite Performance Centre every week and the unsung heroes involved in our success this season.

Further topics are as follows:

  • Player recruitment/trading
  • Player availability/physical output
  • Development of the game model
  • Data and metrics
  • Key strategic decisions
  • Overcoming setbacks

All proceeds for the event go towards Lincoln City Academy.
