A member of the 2025/26 Lincoln City title-winning squad has been released by his parent club ahead of the summer.
Dexter Lembikisa played a minor role in the Imps’ title win, coming off the bench in defeats against Leyton Orient and Rotherham, as well as playing a couple of minutes away at Oakwell in December.
He started two EFL Trophy games, impressing against Manchester United Under 21s, but not quite so much as we went down against Huddersfield Town in the knockout stages. Considering we only lost eight games in league and cup across the season, for one player to have featured in three defeats across his five appearances isn’t great optics.
He did play regularly for Jamaica as they missed out on qualification for the World Cup, and he returned to Wolves in the winter window, without making another loan move.
“Dexter had an excellent spell early in his loan journey when he went to Rotherham and then up to Hearts, and we thought that would be a real springboard for him, but for numerous reasons, including injuries at crucial times in his development, particular when he went out to Switzerland, it’s not worked out for him,” Wolves’ technical director, Matt Jackson, said.
“As a club, we have a duty to the boys to give them the best pathway into a professional football career, and we all feel that him leaving now and starting his journey somewhere else will be the best thing for both the club and for Dexter.
“But he’s been a joy to work with during our time together at Wolves. He’s super professional, always has a smile on his face, he’s great around the group, and he leaves the football club with our very best wishes, and I hope he has a long and fruitful career.”
A regular on the Imps’ fixture list in the mid-eighties, the Molineux outfit dropped out of the Premier League after a miserable season, and will spend the 2026/27 campaign trying to get back to where they feel they belong under Rob Edwards.
Lembikisa came through the Wolves academy after joining the club as a youngster, progressing through the age groups and into the senior setup. First-team football at Molineux proved limited, but that led to a series of loan moves designed to give him experience, with spells at Rotherham United, Hearts, Yverdon-Sport and Barnsley before his short stay with the Imps.
He does have international. pedigree beyond the recent World Cup qualification campaign, which ended in failure. He became a regular part of the Jamaica setup after first being involved at youth level. His senior international experience has included major CONCACAF tournaments and Copa América involvement.
