Gainsborough Trinity have confirmed that Sisa Tuntulwana has been placed on the transfer list after rejecting improved contract offers and making clear his desire to leave the club.
The Holy Blues have issued a detailed statement on the future of the wing back, who remains under contract for the 2026/27 season after the club activated a one-year option in his existing agreement.
Tuntulwana had been the subject of interest during last season, with Trinity confirming that they received a number of offers for the player. Those bids were rejected as they did not meet the club’s valuation, with Gainsborough also attempting to keep him by putting forward what they described as a significantly improved deal.
That proposal, according to the club, would have made him one of the highest-paid players in the squad, but it was turned down on multiple occasions last season and again this summer.
Gainsborough Stand Firm On Valuation
The situation has now moved to the next stage, with Trinity placing Tuntulwana on the transfer list while making clear that they will not allow the matter to be dictated by the player or his representatives.
In their statement, the club said:
“The player, and more specifically his agent, have made it abundantly clear that he wishes to leave the football club.
“As a result, the player has been placed on the transfer list.”
The club also stressed that they have a track record of allowing players to move on when the right offer is made, pointing to Will Lancaster as a recent example. However, Trinity made it clear that any departure will only happen if their valuation is met.
That leaves Tuntulwana in a complicated position. He remains contracted to the club and is expected to report for pre-season training with the rest of the squad unless a suitable bid arrives. Gainsborough said they had no intention of selling him initially, but acknowledged that players progressing is part of their recruitment model. The key point, though, is that any deal must suit the club as well as the player.
Tuntulwana’s Rise At Trinity
Tuntulwana joined Gainsborough after previously coming through at Lincolnshire neighbours Grantham Town, where he progressed from academy level into the first team. He featured in the Northern Premier League as a teenager and also worked with former goalkeeper and first-team coach Kevin Pressman during his time with the Gingerbreads.
He has since developed into an athletic, attack-minded wing back, offering pace, energy and a direct outlet down the flank. His versatility has also been useful for Trinity, with the defender having filled in at centre back during his first season with the club.
