Bristol City Technical Director Brian Tinnion To Leave Role
Brian Tinnion will leave his day-to-day role as Bristol City technical director this summer, ending a near 35-year association with the club, as confirmed by BBC Sport.
The 58-year-old has been a major figure at Ashton Gate across several eras, having first joined the Robins as a player in 1993. He made more than 450 English Football League appearances for the club before later serving as manager, academy director and technical director.
Tinnion’s academy work has been central to his reputation at Bristol City, with players including Antoine Semenyo and Alex Scott coming through the system during his time involved with youth development. He will not leave the club entirely, as he is set to continue on a consultancy basis as a senior European scout.
In a letter published by the club, Tinnion said the time had come to step away from his daily duties.
“After more than a quarter of a century at Bristol City, both on and off the pitch, the time has come for me to say goodbye to my day-to-day role at the football club.
“Throughout my time at this incredible club, I have dedicated myself fully to every role I have been fortunate enough to undertake, giving my heart and soul to Bristol City every single day.”
Chief executive Charlie Boss praised Tinnion’s contribution, describing his achievements as a player and member of the senior leadership team as “extraordinary”. His departure from the technical director role comes during a summer of change at Ashton Gate.
