Lincoln City Talent Makes Season Long League Two Loan Switch

Lincoln City stopper Zach Jeacock has joined League Two side Northampton Town on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper joined the Imps in the summer of 2024 and has made 22 appearances for the club. He featured six times during the 2025/26 season, keeping four clean sheets, and helped City progress to the knockout stages of the Vertu Trophy.

With George Wickens seemingly a shoo-in for our number one spot, it has been left to Zach to head out on loan in search of some regular minutes. He’s a keeper with a big future, and while 25 for an outfield player is ‘in your prime’, for a keeper it is still relatively young. Case point: Alex Palmer was 24 when he joined us on loan.

The aim is still for Zach to be our number one, as sporting director Jez George explained.

“When Zach signed a new long-term contract last season, it was with the explicit aim of him being our No.1 goalkeeper in the future,” he said.

“That hasn’t changed, but the timeline has changed due to our promotion which negated Zach being able to go out on loan last season as well as our intent and expectation that George will remain at the club now we are in the Championship.

“Zach, therefore, needs games and this loan will provide him with that opportunity. Northampton are a good club, we trust the people in charge, we know and respect their new head coach, Chris Hogg, and we hope that Zach can get a season of football under his belt as well as helping Northampton to compete at the top of their league.”

The Cobblers were relegated from League Two last season, losing 1-0 and 4-0 against the Imps along the way. They sacked Kevin Nolan not long after we hammered them at the Bank, and will expect to be among the promotion hunters in League Two this season.

Birmingham-born Jeacock only turned 25 at the start of May, and has played 11 League One games for the Imps, as well as 11 further cup matches. For a short while in the 2024/25 season, George Wickens remained on the bench after an injury, as Jeacock’s form kept him out.

He started his career at Birmingham City, making a debut on the opening day of the 2020/21 season, and keeping a clean sheet against Brentford, but he only played once more, late in the season, as they lost 4-0 to Cardiff. Loans at Stourbridge, Gloucester and Salford City followed, before his release. He moved to City in July 2024 and spent three games on loan at Southend in the 2024/25 season.
