Released Lincoln City defender Charlie Carlisle has agreed a deal with North Ferriby following his Imps’ exit.
Carlisle, who didn’t make a senior appearance for the Imps, left Sincil Bank at the end of last season after spending the campaign on loan with Lincoln United.
The youngster came through the Imps academy pathway after first arriving at the club at U10 level. A natural centre-back, he has also displayed adaptability during his time with City, operating in different roles across the back line as well as moving into midfield when required.
The defender became an important figure in Sam Tillen’s side, making 28 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign and playing a part in the young Imps’ record-equalling FA Youth Cup run. He joined Lincoln United a year ago on a season-long work experience loan, where he established himself as a key player for the Whites.
His highlight was perhaps scoring a screamer as they beat Consett AFC 4-2, but he established himself as a key figure, despite the upheaval caused by two manager departures. He was a significant member of Dave Frecklington’s side as they moved away from the drop zone after the festive period.
North Ferriby are no strangers to the Imps, and fans of a certain age will remember a number of fixtures against them. The most damaging was in the FA Trophy, when Billy Heath’s side put four past us at the Bank, despite being a division below. Ironically, Heath was the manager who left Lincoln United when Frecklington took over.
We also played them twice in the 2016/17 season, with City registering a 6-1 win in the opening home fixture of the campaign, having been 3-0 up after 16 minutes, and North Ferriby a man down on 23. Later in the season, just days after beating Burnley in the FA Cup, Imps’ fans descended on Grange Lane to watch Luke Waterfall secure a narrow 1-0 win.
That will now be Carlisle’s home as he seeks to forge a career by getting regular minutes at the Northern Premier League East Division side, which plays in the same division as the Whites.
