Watford Goalkeeper In Talks Over Permanent Exit
Watford goalkeeper Nathan Baxter is in advanced talks over a permanent move to Plymouth Argyle.
The 27-year-old only joined Watford last summer, signing a two-year contract after leaving Bolton Wanderers at the end of his deal. He made seven Championship appearances for the Hornets during the 2025/26 season, along with one further outing in cup competition.
Baxter had previously spent two seasons with Bolton after leaving Chelsea, making 59 league appearances for Wanderers. Before that, he had a long series of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, including time with Metropolitan Police, Solihull Moors, Woking, Yeovil Town, Ross County, Accrington Stanley and Hull City.
His two spells with Hull gave him Championship experience, while his time at Yeovil included a club-record run of six consecutive clean sheets in all competitions. Baxter also came through Chelsea’s academy, winning the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League at youth level.
Plymouth are now looking to add the goalkeeper on a permanent basis as they prepare for League One. For Watford, it would mark a quick departure for a player who arrived at Vicarage Road only a year ago, but who now appears close to moving on.
