Championship Latest: Liverpool Man Seals £700,000 Exit, Manchester United Suffer £85m Heartbreak

The Championship transfer window continues to move quickly, with several clubs either closing in on additions or allowing players to move on as squads take shape for the new season.

Liverpool Midfielder Closing In On Bolton Wanderers Move

Liverpool midfielder Luca Stephenson is close to completing a permanent move to Bolton Wanderers, with the newly promoted Championship club set to pay around £700,000.

The 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and has been given permission to leave. He has been involved with Liverpool’s senior squad during the last two pre-seasons, but has not made a competitive first-team appearance for the club.

Stephenson spent the last two campaigns on loan at Dundee United, where he made 67 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. He was used mainly at right wing-back during his time in Scotland, although he has also operated in midfield and defensive roles during his career.

Before that, he had a loan spell with Barrow in League Two during the 2023/24 season, having joined Liverpool’s academy from Sunderland at under-15 level. He later captained the Reds’ under-18 side and also featured in the UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy.

Bolton returned to the Championship last season after winning the League One play-offs, beating Stockport County 4-1 in the Wembley final. Steven Schumacher’s side are now adding to their squad ahead of life back in the second tier.
