Championship Latest: Manchester United Open £25m Talks, Middlesbrough Could Sanction £3m Exit

Leicester City And Charlton Athletic Track Mikael Mandron

Leicester City and Charlton Athletic are both reported to be keeping tabs on St Mirren striker Mikael Mandron.

The 31-year-old is coming off the back of a productive season in Scotland, having recorded 13 goals and 10 assists across 48 appearances. According to Pete O’Rourke, both Championship clubs are interested in the forward.

Mandron previously played in the EFL with Crewe Alexandra, where he reached double figures in back-to-back League One campaigns. He has since spent four seasons in Scotland and enjoyed his best campaign for goal involvements last season.

His form helped St Mirren remain in the Scottish Premiership via the relegation play-off, while they also won the Scottish League Cup. However, the departure of manager Stephen Robinson to Aberdeen could leave the Paisley club vulnerable to further movement this summer.

Charlton are preparing for life back in the Championship under Nathan Jones, with goals an obvious area to address after promotion. Leicester, meanwhile, are looking to mount a promotion challenge following relegation from the Premier League.

Mandron would offer both clubs an experienced attacking option, with his physical profile giving him value as a focal point as well as a goal threat. He has often been used in a front two at St Mirren, linking play and creating opportunities for runners around him.

The report also notes that Leicester and Charlton are likely to approach the new season with different expectations. For Charlton, survival and consolidation will be the immediate target. For Leicester, the focus is expected to be an immediate return to the top flight.
