An unnamed League One club have agreed a deal for Lincoln City title winner, Kamil Conteh, as he seeks a Bristol Rovers exit.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed on his Twitter that a club will be signing Conteh, who joined the Imps on loan from the Gas in January, and became a part of the title-winning squad. He was transfer-listed by Steve Evans upon his return to Bristol, so his exit will come as no surprise.

An unnamed League One club have agreed a deal with Bristol Rovers for midfielder Kamil Conteh,” wrote O’Rourke.

Kamil played a role in our 2025/26 title-winning season, albeit an unusual one, and it has still helped him earn a place in the affections of supporters. He arrived with the route to first-team football largely blocked, with Tom Bayliss, Ivan Varfolomeev and Conor McGrandles all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order. As it happened, his only real opening came on the final day, when an injury created space for him to feature in City’s record-extending 29th unbeaten game.

He got 31 minutes that afternoon, although it was not entirely without incident. Already booked for one late challenge, he caught Tyler Magloire shortly afterwards and might have been fortunate not to see a second yellow. That came after a clamour for him to get some game time, having been a familiar face around the ground, but not having kicked a ball in anger.

The next step for Kamil appears to be in League One. Before his injury at Rovers, he had been regarded as a strong prospect, with the club paying a reported £300,000 to sign him from Grimsby Town. A recent Sierra Leone cap against Azerbaijan adds another line to his CV, as does his part in a record-breaking, title-winning Lincoln City squad.

It’ll be interesting to see which club he ends up at, with both Peterborough United and Plymouth Argyle being suggested as possible destinations. Either way, it’ll be a step up from the Gas, who will be fighting for a way out of League Two next season.
