Cardiff City Make Shane Maroodza Move
Cardiff City have submitted a formal bid for FK Sarajevo defender Shane Maroodza, with the Bluebirds looking to strengthen their defensive options. The offer is said to be worth £750,000, plus a 20% sell-on clause, but Sarajevo are reportedly holding out for £1m and 25% of any future sale.
The 22-year-old Zimbabwe international joined Sarajevo in October 2025, signing a deal running until the summer of 2027. He had initially earned his opportunity through the club’s B team before moving into first-team contention.
The deal is notable because Cardiff owner Vincent Tan previously held a 50% stake in FK Sarajevo, although that involvement is said to have ended on 1 January 2026. Maroodza also holds a UK passport, which could make any move to Wales more straightforward from a registration perspective.
Cardiff’s formal bid suggests they are actively working on younger defensive additions, although there remains a gap between their current offer and Sarajevo’s valuation. The sell-on clause could yet become a key part of negotiations if the two clubs continue talks.
