The latest batch of Lincoln City fixture changes has been announced, meaning we will only have three 3 pm kick-offs between now and Christmas.
Three more fixtures have changed from Saturday, 3 pm, namely Birmingham City, Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Two of those, Brum and Wolves, now kick off earlier, while the Norwich game has shifted to Sunday 13th December, at the two clubs’ agreement. That might seem strange, but we’ll be in action on Wednesday 9th against Stoke City, so having the extra day to prepare might have factored into the thinking.
We already knew Pompey and Southampton had shifted, meaning five of the eight planned 3 pm home kick-offs between now and Christmas have moved. Other affected games include Millwall away, now a 12:30 pm kick-off, and West Ham at home, shifted by 15 minutes for TV coverage.
Those two games moving means we have a few hours less to prep for Millwall. We lose 15 minutes (I know, it’s not much) by kicking off later against West Ham, and then two-and-a-half hours on the Saturday. Bear in mind, West Ham is a Wednesday as well.
That means our only 3 pm opponents at the Bank between now and Christmas will be Swansea City, Burnley and Wrexham. However, our Boxing Day clash with West Brom also falls on a Saturday, which makes it count as a fourth before the turn of the year. Oddly, we have seven games scheduled for a 3 pm Saturday kick-off away from home in the same period, namely Middlesbrough, Bolton, Preston, Sheffield United, QPR, Cardiff and Derby County.
Still, the early news does give a degree of clarity, with fans now able to make plans right through the autumn period.
