Marvin Johnson
Marvin Johnson took the long route into the Football League, starting out with Solihull Moors and Romulus before making his name at Kidderminster Harriers. His form there earned him a move to Motherwell in 2015, where he helped keep them in the Scottish Premiership before Oxford United paid a reported club-record fee for him the following year. He spent just one season at Oxford, reaching the EFL Trophy final, before Middlesbrough signed him for around £2.5 million.
Johnson went on to make more than 100 appearances for Boro and also spent a season on loan with Sheffield United as they won promotion to the Premier League. His most settled spell came at Sheffield Wednesday, where he played 169 times, helped them win promotion through the League One play-offs and chipped in with 40 goals and assists. He joined Port Vale on a short-term deal in October 2025, but injuries restricted him to seven appearances before he left in January 2026.
