Swansea City Reach Agreement For Valencia Midfielder

Swansea City have reportedly agreed a deal with Valencia for Portuguese midfielder André Almeida, but must still convince the player to accept a move to Wales.

The Swans are believed to have offered €3.5 million as a guaranteed fee, with bonuses and a future sell-on clause potentially taking the total value of the transfer to between €5 million and €6 million.

Reports surrounding the proposed agreement suggest that Valencia have accepted Swansea’s offer. The remaining obstacle is Almeida, who is understood to have reservations about leaving La Liga to play in the Championship.

Discussions remain open, with Swansea hoping to secure a complete agreement in the coming hours. Vítor Matos’ side have not abandoned the move despite the midfielder considering other possibilities.

Almeida came through the academy at Vitória de Guimarães and established himself in their senior side before joining Valencia in 2022. The 26-year-old remains under contract until 2029 after signing improved terms last September.

Valencia are keen to move him on because they need to raise money for new signings, while a sale would also remove his increased salary from their wage bill. That desire to complete a transfer could strengthen Swansea’s position, although the final decision remains with the player.

Should the Swans convince Almeida, the deal would represent an ambitious addition to Matos’ midfield ahead of the new campaign.
