Championship Latest: Cardiff City Exit Nears, Bristol City Close to £5m Striker Deal

Bristol City Closing In On Dom Ballard

Bristol City are reportedly close to signing £5m Leyton Orient striker Dom Ballard, with the forward believed to have visited the Robins High Performance Centre ahead of a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Ashton Gate throughout the summer and is now said to be nearing an agreement that would make him Michael Skubala’s eighth signing of the window.

Ballard joined Leyton Orient permanently from Southampton last summer following loan spells with Reading, Blackpool and Cambridge United. He subsequently enjoyed an exceptional first full season at Brisbane Road, scoring 23 league goals and adding four assists.

His performances earned him the League One Golden Boot, a place in the Team of the Season and both the division’s Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.

The latest Bristol City update claims Ballard has now been at the club’s training ground as the Robins attempt to complete the transfer.

Ballard would provide Bristol City with one of the most productive young forwards outside the Championship and add another major attacking option to Skubala’s rebuilt squad.
