Mark Sertori
Mark Sertori had barely begun his Football League career when City picked him up in 1987. He had joined Stockport County from East Manchester that February, but made just four league appearances before moving on to Sincil Bank and dropping into the Conference with a club attempting to recover from relegation out of the Football League.
That move transformed his career. Sertori made his City debut in a 4-2 defeat at Barnet, but went on to play 28 league games and score six goals as the Imps won the Conference title at the first attempt. He eventually made 78 league appearances for City, scoring 15 times, before moving on to Wrexham in 1990.
Stockport had barely used him, yet City gave him the chance to establish himself properly in senior football. From four league appearances at Edgeley Park, he became a regular in a promotion-winning side and went on to enjoy a long Football League career.

Some great names there from the past including my favourite GH. Goid article.
