Lincoln City have provided a progress update on the ProAmpac Stadium’s ongoing renovations and improvements.
A frame for the new big screen has been added, the new North-East Stand is well underway, and new supporter areas are getting upgrades. The plans were first unveiled in February, when The Imps were chasing promotion, and include additional seating capacity, as well as improved fan experiences.

Stadium Improvements
Sincil Bank, now officially known as the ProAmpac Stadium, has been the home of the Imps since 1895. It was bought back from the council in 2000, at a cost of £175,000, and has undergone various upgrades and improvements since. This year’s upgrades are among some of the most significant.
The latest upgrades see the removal of executive boxes, to be replaced by additional seating. New event and hospitality spaces will also be added. The event space will hold up to 350 people and be used for events during the week as well as on matchdays.
The ProAmpac will also incorporate new features designed to enhance the matchday experience. Chief growth and innovation officer, Jason Futers, said of the planned upgrades: “It’s all about fan engagement, but also increases corporate and commercial opportunities for the club.”
Viewing options have increased for fans in recent years. As well as being able to watch games on TV, the internet has had a huge impact, as it has across multiple industries. Consumers can watch their favourite TV shows and movies online, reducing terrestrial viewing and cinema attendance figures. Players can also access online slots and immersive casino games from computers and mobile devices without having to leave their homes.
Similarly, football fans can stream games and catch live updates online. Clubs have had to implement new and innovative matchday experiences to keep attracting people to their grounds. This is especially true for clubs like the Imps, having been promoted to the Championship. Fan expectations are greater, and with improved matchday experiences come increased matchday revenues.
Nearing Completion
As part of the club’s upgrades, they are building two big-screen TVs in the new fan village and another inside the stadium. The frame for the stadium screen has now been installed, so it shouldn’t be too long before the feature is finished. The North-East stand is also well underway, and external surfaces are being completed.
On the pitch, The Imps started their Championship campaign with a 2-1 loss away to Middlesbrough. The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute, with a goal from Adam Reach, but the Boro’s Will Lankshear scored a second-half double to hand The Imps a difficult start to the campaign. The club’s first home game is against Portsmouth – a game they are slight favourites to win.
