‘A Couple Of Bits This Week’ – Tom Shaw On Lincoln City Transfer Business

Tom Shaw suggested Lincoln City will be making moves in the transfer market this week, after the Imps lost 3-1 against Portsmouth at Sincil Bank.

City started with an XI they could have put out at the end of last season, and perhaps it is beginning to show. Despite working hard, we lacked a little bit of quality in front of goal, which Portsmouth didn’t.

The early Pompey scorers were an on-loan Chelsea forward and Croatian striker Adrian Segecic, who bagged 11 in the Championship last season. That quality showed, and perhaps the Imps just look like we need a little something more up front.

That’s no slur on House and Draper. The latter was a potential Imps Man of the Match, and the former created chances and worked hard, but missed one crucial opportunity.

Reinforcements might be needed, and as Tom Shaw explained post-match, they should be coming.

“There’ll be a couple of bits this week, I would imagine,” he said, speaking to press after the game.

“We’re just continuing dialogue with Jez and Liam and the club on what we think is best and what’s needed, and what can help us.

“We’ve had a really good taste of the Championship here, two very tough away games and then the experience of Portsmouth today, which we’ll reflect on.

“There are some bits where we can help ourselves with personnel, and I imagine there’ll be one or two things in the coming week.”

One player who won’t be expected in the next seven days is giant striker Mikkel Ladefoged, who is likely to become the Imps’ record signing on August 30th. He was spotted in the ground watching proceedings, and would certainly add a focal point to the attack, particularly when it feels as if Freddie Draper is our only out-and-out striker right now.

The Imps have also been linked with Tyrese Shade, who was again missing as Burton Albion beat Leicester City. Ethan Wheatley is another player the club have been linked with after his move from Manchester United to Everton fell through.
