Lincoln City Loan Watch: Keeper Nightmare, Winger Gets Assist

Lincoln City currently have four players on loan in League Two, and they had mixed afternoons yesterday. We saw a goal and a serious error as all four started for their loan clubs.

Oscar Thorn

Thorn was Fotmob Man of the Match for Colchester as they beat ten-man Oldham 2-1. He played the full 90 minutes for Danny Cowley’s outfit and was one of their main attacking outlets, registering an assist and creating four chances. He was heavily involved around the opposition box and also produced two big chances for teammates, making this a particularly productive afternoon despite not getting on the scoresheet himself.

His assist (which you’ll see if you press play as the video starts just before) provided a goal for ex-Imp Harry Anderson, who unusually scored with his head. Thorn looked most effective when delivering from wide areas, with four successful crosses and plenty of involvement in the final third. His passing was tidy at 77%, while he also contributed defensively with three tackles and three interceptions, making it a strong all-round display as well as an influential attacking one.

Zane Okoro

Okoro started for Tranmere at Port Vale, his first start for his new club. He got 84 minutes under his belt on the left for Rovers, although he found it difficult to make a telling impact in the final third. He had one effort blocked before the break and managed a couple of touches inside the opposition penalty area, but clear openings were limited.

Okoro was involved in a physical contest and drew three fouls, which suggests he caused problems when carrying the ball or competing for possession. However, he completed only four passes and was caught offside twice, so this felt like a hardworking outing rather than one where he was able to consistently influence the game going forward.

Zach Jeacock

Jeacock completed the full 90 minutes as Northampton Town faced Crewe Alexandra, conceding once in the contest. The on-loan goalkeeper made two saves, including one from inside the penalty area, but made an awful error that led to the goal, not seeing a player lurking behind him.

Away from that moment, Jeacock had a fairly steady game and was involved regularly in Northampton’s build-up from the back. His short distribution was generally reliable, while he was also secure when dealing with the limited aerial and physical work that came his way, making for a solid performance aside from the mistake.

Oisin Gallagher

Gallagher played the full 90 minutes for Barnet as they won at Shrewsbury, operating in a deeper midfield role. It was a quieter outing than his goalscoring display last time out, but he remained involved throughout and helped give Barnet a presence in the middle of the pitch.

Gallagher’s best work came without the ball, making two tackles and two clearances while also winning six of his 12 duels. In possession, he was tidy rather than spectacular, creating one chance and completing 64% of his passes, so this was more of a steady, disciplined performance than one defined by big attacking moments.
