Wrexham are reportedly working on an ambitious club-record deal to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Pavel Sulc before the transfer window closes.
The 25-year-old Czech international has emerged as the leading target for Phil Parkinson, with Football Insider reporting that Wrexham are preparing a significant offer to bring him to North Wales.
Wrexham have already broken their transfer record this summer by paying Sunderland £8 million for goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. However, the proposed move for Sulc would require them to exceed that figure once again.
Lyon are in a strong negotiating position because Sulc remains under contract with the Ligue 1 club until the summer of 2029. The French side are therefore under no immediate pressure to sell one of their most productive attacking players.
Previous reports suggested Lyon could value Sulc at as much as £35 million amid interest from Premier League clubs. It remains unclear how much Wrexham would need to offer, but any successful deal would comfortably become the largest in the Welsh club’s history.
Sulc Offers Proven Attacking Quality
Sulc joined Lyon from Viktoria Plzen in August 2025 after establishing himself as one of the leading players in Czech football. He scored 15 goals and supplied 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, and he has already registered an assist during the current campaign.
The attacking midfielder has also earned 24 senior caps for Czechia, scoring five goals. He made his senior international debut against Norway in March 2024 and was subsequently included in his country’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Sulc can operate as a number ten or in other advanced midfield roles, potentially giving Parkinson an alternative to Josh Windass. The former Sheffield Wednesday player has been unavailable during the opening stages of the season, leaving Wrexham short of established creativity in that area.
Signing Sulc would represent another significant statement of intent from a club targeting a fourth promotion in five seasons. Parkinson has already guided Wrexham from the National League to the Championship through three successive promotions, but their spending now reflects the increased demands of competing in the second tier.
