Lincolnshire’s non-league sides experienced mixed fortunes during Tuesday night’s fixtures, writes David Ward.
Quorn 2 Gainsborough Trinity 2
Gainsborough Trinity travelled to Quorn looking to respond to their weekend defeat against Bury, facing another side they had not previously met.
Russ Wilcox made four changes to his starting line-up, including a first start for former Imp Elliott Whitehouse. The opening half-hour was an even and entertaining affair, with both teams creating opportunities before Ben Blythe produced an excellent finish to put Trinity ahead in the 32nd minute.
Quorn responded with a spectacular equaliser ten minutes later, ensuring the sides went into the interval level. The end-to-end pattern continued after the restart, but the hosts moved ahead from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute.
Trinity refused to accept defeat and found their response five minutes later, Bobby Johnson scoring to spark celebrations among the visitors. Both teams had chances to claim all three points during the closing stages, but a draw was a fair conclusion to an entertaining contest.

Carlton Town 2 Boston Town 1
Boston Town returned to league action following their cup defeat, travelling to Carlton Town in search of a positive response.
The game began evenly, but the contest started to turn after Layton Maddison was forced off through injury. Carlton capitalised ten minutes later, opening the scoring in the 35th minute and preserving that advantage until half-time.
The hosts doubled their lead on the hour, although the second goal appeared to spark Boston into life. The Poachers began to push Carlton back and were rewarded when Zak Munton reduced the deficit in the 85th minute.
Boston continued searching for an equaliser during the closing stages, but they could not find the second goal and returned home without a point.
Loughborough Students 2 Grantham Town 4
Grantham Town produced a dominant away performance to collect all three points against Loughborough Students.
The Gingerbreads needed only ten minutes to open the scoring through Louis Czerwak, with Alex Roberts doubling their advantage in the 22nd minute. Grantham were then awarded a penalty ten minutes before the interval, which Andrew Wright converted to establish a commanding three-goal lead.
Lee Shaw added a fourth early in the second half as Grantham continued to control proceedings. Loughborough scored twice late in the contest, but the damage had already been done and the visitors secured a deserved 4-2 victory.
Pinchbeck United 1 West Bridgford 1
Pinchbeck United welcomed West Bridgford to Eslaforde Park still searching for their first point of the season.
United began strongly and created several opportunities during the opening half-hour, but they were unable to make their early pressure count. West Bridgford then combined effectively in the 32nd minute before finding the bottom corner to take the lead against the run of play.
Logan Waby came close to an equaliser shortly before half-time, sending his effort narrowly wide as Pinchbeck entered the break behind once again.
The hosts emerged with renewed purpose and controlled much of the second half. Their improvement was rewarded in the 52nd minute when Louie Garner equalised, earning United their first point of the campaign and providing a welcome boost after a difficult opening to the season.
