The Bad: Dan Nlundulu
Dan Nlundulu came through the academies at Chelsea and Southampton, making 15 senior appearances for the Saints and scoring once before joining Lincoln on a season-long loan in July 2021. He had a difficult act to follow after Brennan Johnson’s departure and, while he was not a direct replacement, he became the attacking player expected to help fill that void. A proposed move for Morgan Whittaker collapsed, leaving plenty resting on Nlundulu during a season in which we struggled to reproduce the form of the previous campaign.
He made his debut against Bolton Wanderers in August but was soon sidelined after appearing against Manchester United Under-21s in the EFL Trophy. Nlundulu returned to score his only City goal in a 2-0 victory at Wigan Athletic in October, but his loan never gathered momentum. He made 21 appearances in all competitions, including 16 in League One, before Southampton recalled him in January. He often looked short of confidence and struggled to impose himself, making his spell one of those moves that simply did not work for either the player or the club.
After two loans with Cheltenham Town, Nlundulu joined Bolton in January 2023 before completing a permanent move that summer for a reported £250,000. He scored six times in 43 appearances across all competitions for Wanderers, although only one came in the league, and spent 2024/25 on loan at Cambridge United. He later joined St Mirren, helping them win the Scottish League Cup, before moving to Romanian side Petrolul Ploiești in July 2026. His career has continued to offer interesting moments, but one goal from 21 City appearances makes him an unavoidable choice for The Bad.
