Bristol City Unveil New Mural Ahead Of Lincoln City Visit
Imps supporters heading to Ashton Gate on Tuesday will have a new piece of Bristol City history to look out for after a new mural celebrating seven club favourites was unveiled near the ground.
Called ‘The Red Wall’, the artwork features Shaun Taylor, Mike Thresher, Aden Flint, Adriano Basso, Norman Hunter, Gerry Gow and Tommy Doherty. It occupies the side of a house on Ashton Road, by the Dolman Stand entrance, and is the fifth mural produced through independent supporters’ group Art4Fans.
Local artists Inkie and Jody were involved in the project, which has been taking shape since July. Taylor attended Friday’s unveiling, alongside relatives of other players featured, and spoke about what the recognition meant to him:
“It’s a massive privilege. When I was asked to come up, there was no need for hesitation. To be on a wall with some of the club’s elite players is an honour.”
Taylor played for the Robins between 1996 and 2000, helping them win promotion to Division One in 1998 before later joining the coaching staff. Tuesday’s Championship meeting with City will give supporters their first matchday opportunity to see the finished work, with Art4Fans already planning its next project.
