Birmingham City Injury Update: Striker Could Be Set For Return

Birmingham City could have striker August Priske available for Saturday’s visit to Sincil Bank, with Chris Davies hopeful he can play some part against the Imps.

Midfielder Paik Seung-ho, who looked a cut above during our League One tussles, looks set to miss the game as he continues his recovery.

As reported by Birmingham Live, Priske has been making progress after sitting out last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Cardiff City. The Blues struggled without their Danish forward, suffering only their second league defeat of the season, and arrive in Lincoln seventh in the Championship.

Priske could feature against the Imps

Priske has become an important focal point for Birmingham this season, making his availability a significant part of Davies’ preparations. Although the manager stopped short of confirming a return, he suggested the striker could yet be involved on Saturday.

“August has made progress day by day,” Davies said. “It was always going to be a bit of an ask for this one but he’s made good progress and I’m hopeful he can play some part in this one.”

Should Priske be unable to start, Luis Vazquez could again lead the line after being selected at Cardiff. Marvin Ducksch and Jay Stansfield also give Davies options as he considers how to arrange his attack, with Priske’s potential involvement adding another consideration for the Imps.

Paik remains short of a return

There appears to be less chance of Paik featuring against us, with the midfielder still working towards a return to full training. He has missed Birmingham’s last four matches, and Davies’ update suggests Saturday will come too soon.

“Paik’s coming along again, I’m hoping Paik’s probably a week away from full training, which would be fantastic to have him back around it.

“Outside of that there’s nothing changing. There’s no new injuries [from Cardiff].”

At the other end of the pitch, we will be facing one of the division’s strongest defensive records. Birmingham have conceded just 12 goals in their opening 12 Championship matches, giving them the joint-best record in the league, with captain Christoph Klarer partnering Phil Neumann at the back.

Klarer also started on Birmingham’s previous visit to Sincil Bank, when they won 3-1 in League One in October 2024. After scoring four against Burnley last weekend, we should have some confidence going into this one, but that defensive record underlines the challenge awaiting the Imps on Saturday.
