Lincoln City could welcome back two attacking players for Saturday’s Championship encounter with Queens Park Rangers, with positive updates on Mikkel Ladefoged and Ethan Wheatley.
The Imps suffered a 1-0 defeat at Watford on Tuesday evening, with Ladefoged missing from the squad and Ben House picking up a booking that rules him out of the weekend’s fixture.
With Wheatley and Melia also absent through injury, there are concerns over City’s attacking options, but head coach Tom Shaw remains confident there is enough depth in the squad.
“No, we’ve got plenty of options still, in our opinion,” he said, when asked if the squad was a little threadbare.
“Mikkel hopefully back for Saturday, it’s looking promising.”
While Ladefoged could return against QPR, there was also encouraging news regarding Wheatley, who has played just once so far. Melia’s recovery is taking longer than initially hoped, although Tom confirmed that the Tottenham Hotspur loanee is making progress towards a return to first-team contention.

“Ethan is back in full training, so confident that he’ll be available for selection at the weekend.
“Mason’s got a few more weeks to go, going a little bit slower than he would like and we would like. So Mason’s not far away, but Ethan, we’re thinking, will be back in contention for Saturday.”
City now return to Sincil Bank for Saturday’s meeting with QPR, looking to respond after consecutive defeats against Birmingham City and Watford.
The possible returns of Ladefoged and Wheatley would provide a timely boost to the Imps’ attacking options, particularly with House potentially unavailable through suspension.
Melia appears unlikely to feature before the international break, but his eventual return would offer another option as City approach a busy period of Championship football.
