Danny Hylton
This is an interesting one for a number of reasons. I might be stretching it calling him a former Appleton general; he did have two years at Oxford under Appleton, helping them to the JPT Trophy Final and promotion from League Two.
Is he a former general though? Appleton was disappointed when he left for Luton in 2016 a move which saw him impress hugely for the Hatters during their rise to the Championship. He’s out of contract this summer and is likely to move on from Luton.
The questions are these; would Appleton now trust Hylton in League One? Would we? Or, if we’re in the top ten or twelve, is he what we’d need to kick on? Also, has Appleton been burned once by the striker and won’t go there again.
Maybe, given Graeme Jones’ previous West Brom connections as well as Appleton’s, a loan deal could be struck in January to give us an extra option up front. Who knows?
Given Hylton’s popularity in terms of his goals, he might be a good signing. Given his celebration for Aldershot in 2011, he wouldn’t be someone I’d be getting a photo with if he signed.

Hylton also got an 8 match ban in 2012 that definitely puts him in the never gonna cheer him bracket, as well as putting us down with glee
