Times are getting challenging, aren’t they?
We’re moving towards the business end of the season and sadly, players are dropping like flies. Callum Morton has been injured for longer than I care to remember, Theo Archibald dropped off the radar and still isn’t back in the squad.
Recently, we lost Liam Bridcutt, Harry Anderson and Joe Walsh, leaving us looking threadbare, but for tonight’s fixture, Adam Jackson, Anthony Scully and Jorge Grant could join that list. It’s a big loss across the squad, our two leading scorers possibly out, what you might consider to be our first-choice centre back pairing and the club captain.
For other teams, it’s a crisis. Hell, as recently as 2018/19, that’s a crisis. Right now, it is an opportunity.
That wasn’t what I intended when I started out with this article. I originally wanted to see what sort of side we might be able to put out. Now I’ve done the graphic and committed it to paper, I’m actually quite impressed. Considering the players we have out, we can still put out a decent side and I’ve left out another regular. Let’s see what you think to my suggested XI for tonight’s fixture against Swindon Town, and at the same time, we can relive some of the squad’s finest moments by throwing in a few Bubs’ pictures.
