The Imps have been linked with an ambitious move for former Ajax and Real Madrid forward Mink Peeters, but before you get too excited, it is Team Talk that has made the claims.
Still, for a moment, let’s suspend our disbelief and enjoy the show. Mink Peeters is a 25-year-old attacker who plays just behind the striker. As a youth, he was at Ajax before being snapped up by Real Madrid. He scored twice in the 2016/17 UEFA Youth League for the Spanish giants but never progressed beyond their Under 19 side, despite being labelled as a wonderkid.

He was capped up to Under 20 level by the Netherlands, but his progress was stunted in Spain – he had loan spells with VVV-Venlo and Almere City in his home country, as well as Lleida Esportiu before leaving Spain. He spent time with Čukarički in Belgrade and Volendam in the Netherlands and most recently headed out to Dubai to play for Gulf United. He’s now left there and is a free agent.
A free-agent striker? You have my interest.
Or rather, you would have my interest if it wasn’t Team Talk putting the story out. The same site that linked us with Cameron Dummigan and James Hardy and that had Harry Anderson as a target for Championship clubs. Sadly, I do have to take anything they write with a pinch of salt.

Apparently, Hull City are also interested, and the player has spoken of a desire to play in the Championship, saying, “A friend of mine, Zian Flemming, is playing at Millwall at the moment and tells me how amazing the Championship can be, so it is a league I would love to play in.”
I do wonder if perhaps the story comes together all on its own. We have Lewis Montsma, he’s Dutch, and we have a striker issue, so it makes sense to link us with Peeters. It’s a story that writes itself, isn’t it?
Why cover it then, I hear you ask? Because I have no doubt plenty of sites will, and it’ll start to be one of those rumours that go around and around, courtesy of some of our own misguided but well-meaning supporters. I like the Stacey West readers to be well-informed, hence addressing the rumours right now.
That said, a stopped clock is right twice a day, and as yet, Team Talk hasn’t been right once about Lincoln City.
You never know, right? (Insert your own winky-face emoji here)
