City striker James Collins has been nominated for the PFA League One Fans’ Player of the Month award for April after a standout run of form.
The Republic of Ireland international netted five goals in six appearances during the month, including a crucial brace against promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers and a match-winning strike against Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
His nomination comes on the back of attacker Jovon Makama being nominated for, and winning, a monthly award in March. Not bad for a team that’s not exciting, right?
Collins has enjoyed a prolific career across the English Football League. Having started out at Aston Villa, he has gone on to represent clubs such as Shrewsbury Town, Swindon Town, Crawley Town, and Luton Town, where he scored over 60 goals and played a key role in their promotion to the Championship.

His move in the winter window proved to be a huge success as he reached ten goals for the Imps. A brace at Charlton stands out, as does the winner against Reading, both earning the Imps points.
He faces stiff competition from five other in-form players in Sky Bet League One:
Jamie Donley – Leyton Orient
Kieran Dowell – Birmingham City
Sam Smith – Wrexham A.F.C.
Sam Tickle – Wigan Athletic
Kyle Wootton – Stockport County
