It is time for the Stacey West End of Season Awards, which you, the readers of this site, mainly chose.
This season was a success, masquerading as a damp squib. We had a cup run, which under usual circumstances would be celebrated. We played Chesham on TV and avoided the banana skin, but then got an away draw at Crawley and bloody Birmingham. It didn’t feel like a cup run, but it was.
We finished top half in League One for a third season in a row, despite having a bottom half budget for the third season in a row. The problem was we were top six at Christmas, and falling away gives a feeling of a poor season. Had we started badly and surged to 11th, things might be viewed differently.
I’m even told we were less exciting, but scored 64 goals, just one fewer than last season, 17 more than in Mark Kennedy’s full season and ten more than Michael Appleton’s final season. Our average attendance was up, but then people might argue that’s down to away fans. For every positive, there’s a negative that can be argued, making it another divisive season

Still, we’re not here for that, yet. Instead, over the course of the season, you have been rating each player, week by week, giving me the chance to do an awards article based not only on my interpretations but also on a collective of Imps fans everywhere. Without further ado, why not sit back, relax, and check out the six awards we’re giving out this season, which are:
Player of the Year
The player with the highest average rating of the season was gathered by adding each match and dividing by the number of matches we played during the period we collected data. To qualify, players have to have played in at least 30 of our matches this season. By ‘played’, they must have been on the field for 15 minutes or more, so subs ratings only count if they came on before the 75-minute mark.

Young Player of the Year
Same as above, but for players aged 22 or under when the season kicked off, they must have played in 15 of our matches this season. I have lowered this, given how young players often play fewer matches.
Loan Player of the Year
Same as above, but for players we had on loan who played in ten games or more.
Jack Mulhall xG Award
My favourite award. Check out this article to find out how we’re going to award this one.

Best Team Display
The game with the highest average rating
Best Individual Display
The player with the single highest rating for a solitary game.
