Another central defensive option is Walsallβs David Okagbue β a player who, while stylistically different, fits the broader development model that has worked so well for Lincoln. The 21-year-old Irish defender has just completed a standout season at the Bescot, earning plaudits for his aerial ability, timing, and maturity.
Okagbue ranked highly for interceptions, aerial duels (particularly in his own box), and shots blocked among League Two defenders aged 16β22. That last stat is telling β dominating in your own box at a young age marks you out as a potential elite. Heβs right-footed, physically imposing, and prefers playing on the right of a central pair.
He joined Stokeβs academy after time in Ireland with St Kevinβs Boys and has also spent time on loan at Chester and Oldham. With a contract through to 2026, a fee would be necessary β but Okagbue feels like a prototypical Lincoln signing: one we develop, polish, and eventually profit from.
