Exeter’s Higgins Dodges Parking Fine After Derby Heroics
Score in a Devon Derby and the city remembers.
Exeter City winger Akeel Higgins says he was let off a parking ticket in the days after his chipped finish sealed a 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle, a moment that also earned him player of the match on only his second senior start.
“I forgot to pay for my parking ticket. The ticket warden stopped me and said: ‘Are you Akeel?’ Next time, just pay your parking fine, but this time I’m going to let you off.”
The on-loan West Brom attacker is relishing the step up from under-21 football, adding pace and direct threat to Exeter’s front line as they try to build momentum. Higgins says the move has pushed him, both physically and mentally, and he wants to repay the faith with sustained end product.
