Five League One Players I’d Love Lincoln City To Sign

Ed Turns – Exeter City

I feel for Exeter City, they’re in the mire right now, and I’m not sure quite how they’ll get out of it. It might be by selling players, as they have in the past, and Turns feels saleable.

A product of Brighton and Hove Albion’s academy, he never made a Premier League appearance yet spent those years learning the position with a calmness that stood out in youth football. Loans at Leyton Orient brought his first real breakthrough. He played a part in their promotion from League Two, chipped in with goals, and showed he could handle the physical side of senior football.

A spell at Crewe added more experience before Exeter moved for him in early 2025. He walked straight into their starting group and has since grown into a dependable presence, reading the game well and stepping forward with confidence. Turns also represented Wales at under 21 level, reflecting his steady rise into a trusted League One defender.

When he joined Exeter, his first interview discussed how he was swayed by their ability to sell young talent on, and his performances since have kept up his side of the bargain. He’s 23, and a right-footed centre back, which we may well be on the lookout for, long term.
