Roughan Collision Results In Major Injury Worry For City

A coming together with former Imp Sean Roughan has led to a major injury worry for Lincoln City.

The former Imp was involved in a challenge with James Collins after 11 minutes of our EFL Trophy defeat this week, which resulted in a long spell of treatment. Despite trying to carry on, Collins pulled up a second time and had to leave the field.

This came early into his spell as captain, and was a disappointing moment in an evening that had more than it’s fair share of disappointing moments.

After the game, Michael Skubala voiced his concern. Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, he looked worried when discussing the former Luton and Derby striker’s injury.

“James Collins never, never comes over,” he said, whilst also shaking his head.

“He’s a strong player, strong bloke, trains every day. So that’s a bit of a worry for me because when you see Collo do that, it’s not something I’ve seen in the whole time he’s been here.”

There was certainly nothing sinister in the challenge; the ball was there to be won and, if anything, Collins just jumped in quite quickly, with Roughan standing his ground as he always did. The two came together, and it was the veteran striker who came off the worst.

“He’s got a whack, or we’re not sure whether it’s a twist,” finished Michael. “So he’s going to have to have a scan and see what that is. He’s really disappointed because he was the captain tonight to lead the line.”

With no press conference this weekend, supporters have been left to worry about not only Collins, but Ben House as well. He was seen on crutches in the fan zone before the game, and Michael confirmed he was also an injury worry.

There are shades of 2023 all over again, losing two strikers in a week, but it remains to be seen how bad both players are.
