Former Northampton Town Striker Finds Home With Non-League Strugglers

Stamford AFC have confirmed the signing of former Northampton Town striker Leon Lobjoit, adding a proven non-league goalscorer to Graham Drury’s squad ahead of the next phase of the Southern League Premier Division Central survival campaign.

The Dannies announced the arrival on social media, welcoming the 31-year-old forward to Zeeco Stadium and highlighting a career record that includes more than 100 senior goals and multiple league titles. It is a statement addition for Stamford, with Lobjoit bringing a reputation as a consistent finisher at Step 3 and Step 4 level.

Born in Hatfield, Lobjoit came through youth systems at Milton Keynes Dons and Coventry City before embarking on an extensive non-league career. His journey has included spells with clubs such as Leighton Town, Daventry Town, Bedford Town, Newport Pagnell Town and St Neots Town, alongside professional experience at Northampton Town and a series of loans that helped shape his development.

Recently Prolific

Lobjoit’s most prolific periods have come in recent seasons. He scored 60 goals during the 2022–23 campaign with Leighton Town, a remarkable return achieved despite playing through an eye injury, and followed that with another strong goalscoring run at Daventry Town. After returning to Bedford Town, he played a key role as the Eagles won the Southern League Premier Division Central title in 2024–25, finishing the season with 27 league goals as the club secured promotion.

Work commitments led to a departure from Bedford in the summer of 2025, followed by shorter spells at Kettering Town and Potters Bar Town, before Stamford moved to secure his signature in January. For Drury, the deal brings in a forward with both experience and a proven ability to convert chances at this level.

Dannies Departure

Stamford also confirmed a departure alongside the arrival. Kyle Rowley has left the club by mutual consent, bringing his time with the Dannies to an end. The club thanked the midfielder for his contribution in red and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.

With Lobjoit now on board, Stamford will hope his goals can provide a decisive boost as they look to push on during the second half of the season. They’re currently 11 points adrift of safety, four points shy of second from bottom Royston Town, and have scored just three goals from open play since the start of November, two against Royston in a recent big win.
