Reading awaiting clarity on Marriott injury
Reading manager Leam Richardson says the club are still waiting for a clearer diagnosis on striker Jack Marriott’s hamstring issue, according to the Reading Chronicle.
Marriott has been a key attacking figure for the Royals, and concerns grew when he was forced out of training earlier this week following discomfort.
Richardson explained that the club’s medical team are monitoring the situation closely and expect to know more once further assessments have been completed.
“He’s obviously struggling with his hamstring.
We haven’t been given a time frame on it yet because I think it needs to settle down more, so I’m led to believe and then he’s going to get more, he’s going to go see somebody at the end of this week.”
The Reading boss added that the club want answers quickly as the schedule tightens during the final weeks of the season.
“Obviously with the amount of time in games that we’ve got, it’s not something probably that we’ll treat organically.
“We’ll want to get to an answer quite quickly really, rather than see how he presents.”
Marriott had recently featured in back-to-back draws against Bolton Wanderers and Port Vale, making his potential absence an important issue for the Royals as they navigate the run-in.
