Former Lincoln City forward Callum Morton has joined National League South side Worthing on a deal running until the end of the 2025-26 season.
The 26-year-old striker has linked up with Adam Hinshelwood’s side ahead of the final stretch of the campaign, with the Rebels entering the closing weeks of the season with 11 league fixtures remaining. His arrival adds further attacking depth to a squad pushing through the decisive stage of the National League South run-in.
Morton is a familiar name to many Lincoln supporters. The forward spent time with the Imps during the 2020-21 season, arriving on loan from West Bromwich Albion and struggling to make a positive impression during his spell at the Bank.
Since leaving Lincoln, the striker has continued to build an extensive Football League résumé. Across spells in the EFL, he has featured regularly in both League One and League Two and also appeared in the Championship during the 2021-22 campaign with Peterborough United.
Most recently, Morton had been with Bristol Rovers in League Two, although injuries restricted his opportunities with the Gas. Despite making only six appearances, he still managed to find the net, scoring an equaliser in a 1-1 draw away at Crewe Alexandra in December.

Pre-Lincoln promise
Before that, Morton had built up significant experience across several clubs in the English pyramid. As well as Lincoln and Peterborough, he has had spells with Fleetwood Town, Salford City, Forest Green Rovers and Northampton Town, as well as coming through the academy system at West Brom.
One of the most notable moments of his career came during Northampton’s successful promotion push in the 2019-20 season. Morton played a key role during the decisive run-in, scoring eight goals in just 12 appearances as the Cobblers surged into the League Two play-offs.
His contribution proved crucial in the semi-finals against Cheltenham Town. After Northampton lost the first leg 2-0, Morton struck twice in the return fixture as Keith Curle’s side produced a dramatic comeback to win 3-2 on aggregate and book their place at Wembley.
Morton then added another landmark moment in the play-off final itself, scoring in Northampton’s 4-0 victory against Exeter City under the Wembley arch to secure promotion to League One.
Experienced in play-offs, which Worthing are targeting
That experience of performing in high-pressure situations was one of the factors that attracted Worthing manager Hinshelwood, who believes the striker’s background in the EFL will be valuable for the Rebels as the season approaches its climax.
“Callum is a really exciting player to add to our group.
“Hopefully at 26 he’s now entering the peak of his career and we hope to see that shine through in our final part of the season.
“He also adds that bit of experience that I think the group needs at this stage and has that know-how of playing at a higher level which I think will be invaluable to us.”
Worthing have confirmed the striker will wear the number 28 shirt and he made his debut against Tonbridge at the weekend, as his side lost 1-0.
