The Stacey West have committed to play a charity game on Friday, May 22nd, in aid of the Lincoln City Foundation.
It’s taking place at Ashby Avenue, home of Lincoln United, and it’s going to be much more than a game of football. That is, of course, good, because there are only five of us, and we have fewer working eyes than most quintets, more screws and plates, and a combined age that would make Hugh Hefner look like a toddler.
We’re putting together a fun evening in conjunction with British Heart Foundation FC, and it’s going to be epic. We’re going to drip-feed the different fun things we have planned, but for now, you just need to save the date.
Obviously, the Stacey West team won’t all play. Chris will, having been in the Imps academy, and I might have ten minutes before the only bit of my back that works collapses, but we’ll need more players. We’ve roped in some good local footballers: the guys from the Kitsman are going to appear, our Kyle Fox is a decent player and Ollie Burton, who writes for the site. Now it’s my job, as Director of Football, to start getting some more talent in.
With a weekend just gone that saw a Lincoln City attacker score a late goal to affect the course of history, we thought, why not go and get the same level of player for our team? So, we went out and got a player who scored not one, but two goals in a huge, life-changing game. We got a player who is the only man I have seen applauded by Lincoln fans for scoring against us. I’ve got a player who is still banging in crosses and goals, and who will doubtless have you flocking to Ashby Avenue to watch him whip in a cross for me someone to nod home.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Stacey West have signed Terry Hawkridge.

He won’t be the last big name to come and help us in the clash of the marathon men. Lining up for BHF FC will be none other than Jasper, my partner in the London Marathon fundraising endeavour last year. This time, we might be on opposing teams but we’re both delighted to share that we’re donating the funds raised from this game to the Lincoln City Foundation again.
For now, save the date. Stacey West FC are coming together for a great evening’s entertainment, and with the likes of Terry Hawkridge on the ball, it’s one not to be missed.
