Lincoln City’s League One title celebrations will continue next month with an open-top bus parade through the city.
Supporters are set to line the streets as the Imps mark a historic promotion to the Championship, as they did in 2017 and 2019. I even recall one in 1998 for finishing third!
The club have confirmed that the parade will take place on Saturday, May 9, giving fans the chance to celebrate alongside their heroes. Details of the route have not been released, but you’d expect a lap of the High Street at the very least, meaning the Treaty, Shakey and Anchor will be brimming with bodies!
City sealed the title in emphatic fashion on Tuesday night, winning 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers to extend their unbeaten run to 27 matches. Ben House’s double sparked delight among the 3,000 travelling supporters, a moment that will live long in the memory and now sets the tone for what promises to be a special day in the city.
City set for celebration
Details around the exact route and timings are still to be confirmed, but the club have made it clear that the event will be a full-city celebration, organised in partnership with City of Lincoln Council.
“City fans are invited to celebrate our Sky Bet League One title win with players and staff at an open-top bus parade through the city on Saturday 9 May.
“The event is brought to you by ProAmpac and the City of Lincoln Council. Further details to be confirmed in the coming weeks.”
There is still football to be played before then. We welcome Wycombe Wanderers to Sincil Bank this weekend, before closing out the season away at Port Vale on May 2. Those matches can bring more records and 100 points and knowing Skubala and the standards set this season, there will be no let-up.
This Sunday sees the club’s annual awards dinner at the Engine Shed, with the Imps recently having been at the EFL Awards dinner. It’s non-stop right now as the best team in League One comes to the end of a history-making season.
