Peterborough United are set to battle it out with Reading for Colchester United winger Kyreece Lisbie this summer, according to the Reading Chronicle.
The 22-year-old is attracting serious attention after a standout campaign in which he’s bagged 11 goals and added eight assists, with a transfer tussle now expected as the window approaches.
Championship and League One interest builds
Reading are expected to renew their interest in Lisbie after coming close to landing him in January, when a deal was agreed in principle before Colchester United opted against a sale at the last moment. The Essex side are believed to value the winger in the region of £500,000 to £750,000, a figure that reflects his growing output in the final third.
Peterborough United are also firmly in the race and have been pushing hard behind the scenes to secure his signature. Their interest is well established, particularly with his twin brother Kyrell thriving there, registering 14 goals and seven assists this season.
Career path shows resilience
Lisbie’s rise has not been straightforward. He began in the Leyton Orient academy alongside his brother but was released at a young age, with the pair struggling through a series of unsuccessful trials before dropping into non-league with Cray Valley Paper Mills. From there, he worked his way back into the professional game, earning a move to Watford and later Brentford’s B team.
His time at Brentford was disrupted by injury, but he still contributed to a Premier League Cup-winning campaign before rediscovering form in the early part of the 2024–25 season, scoring eight times in 18 appearances. That run earned him a move to Colchester United in February 2025, where he initially had to be patient, including a short loan spell at Braintree Town, before breaking into the first team.
He has since established himself, making over 50 appearances and scoring 11 goals in the most recent campaign, form that also saw him named the club’s Young Player of the Year.
Rising profile after standout campaign
Lisbie’s stock has climbed sharply over the past year. His return of 19 goal involvements across all competitions highlights his ability to influence games consistently, whether starting wide or operating higher up the pitch.
Still under contract until 2027, Colchester are in a strong position and have already shown they are prepared to hold firm on their valuation. With multiple clubs circling and the player’s profile growing, this is shaping up to be one of the more competitive pursuits of the summer window.
