Jack Moylan has been selected for Heimir Hallgrímsson’s 21-man Ireland squad for the international friendly meeting with Grenada in Murcia.
Moylan has seemingly been on the cusp of a call-up for a month or so now, and Hallgrímsson was watching on as we beat Wycombe Wanderers 4-3 in our penultimate game of the season.
This morning, it was confirmed Moylan is one of seven new faces in the Ireland camp as they plan for life after failing to qualify for the World Cup.
Ahead of the game against Port Vale, Michael Skubala outlined what a call-up would mean to Moylan, who is currently in Las Vegas with teammates, celebrating the Imps’ title win.
“Well, for him personally, a really proud Irishman who would love to play for his country, I think he deserves it,” Skubala said in the Port Vale pre-match press conference.
“I think he deserves a call. I think he’s been exceptional since he’s come back in from his injuries. So, I think we’d all be very proud of him. I think his family would be very proud of him.”

24-year-old Moylan joined the Imps from Shelbourne in January 2024, and has had an explosive career with the Imps. Despite being ruled out twice for periods by injury, he has bagged 21 goals in all competitions, adding ten assists from just 88 outings, hugely impressive.
In March, he penned a new deal with the Imps running to 2030, which protects our interests, given that there is bound to be interest in him. A big showing for his country in 11 day’s time could well be the catalyst for another couple of zeros to be added on to any potential transfer fee.
