Birmingham City Face Fight To Keep Young Forward

Birmingham City are trying to secure Aurelien Guernier on fresh terms, but Rudy Galetti has reported that the 18-year-old has offers from two Premier League clubs.

Guernier is out of contract this summer and is understood to have attracted interest from across Europe. Ligue 1 sides are said to have made offers, while clubs in Italy, Portugal and Belgium are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

The youngster spent the 2025/26 season with City’s under-18 and under-21 sides. He recorded two assists in seven under-18 Premier League games before becoming more involved in Premier League 2, where he contributed three goals and one assist in 15 appearances.

Able to play wide or through the middle, Guernier’s flexibility across the front line is likely to be part of the attraction for potential suitors. He is also eligible to represent both England and France internationally.

Birmingham have placed major emphasis on recruitment since the takeover by Tom Wagner and Knighthead, but that ambition can create a challenge for academy prospects. The Blues have long had a strong youth reputation, with Jude Bellingham the obvious example, but retaining the next wave may become harder if senior opportunities look limited.
