Stoke City Set To Add Arsenal Coach To Mark Robins’ Staff

Stoke City are expected to appoint Max Porter to their first-team coaching staff, with The Sentinel reporting that the Arsenal under-21s boss is set to join Mark Robins’ backroom team.

Porter, 38, is expected to link up with Robins, assistant James Rowberry, coach Ryan Shawcross and goalkeeping coach Darren Behcet at Clayton Wood. The move would fill the vacancy left when Paul Nevin departed the club in February.

He has built his coaching reputation at Arsenal, having joined the club’s youth set-up in 2017. Since then, Porter has worked across several age groups, starting with the under-9s before progressing through under-14s, under-17s, under-18s and under-21s roles.

Porter took charge of Arsenal’s under-21s last summer and has overseen a campaign in which the academy produced first-team debuts, EFL loans and permanent moves. His arrival would continue a busy off-season behind the scenes at Stoke, with Damian Roden returning as head of medical and performance, Stuart Harvey arriving as technical director and Jack Higgins due to join as academy director.
