Wrexham Add Former Liverpool Goalkeeper To Scholarship Intake
Wrexham have signed former Liverpool goalkeeper Miles Lewis on a scholarship deal, with Sports Illustrated reporting that the 16-year-old is one of eight new first-year scholars at the club.
Lewis leaves Liverpool after eight years, having first joined the Anfield club at the age of eight. He had already spent time on trial with Wrexham earlier this year, training with the under-18s and even taking part in the first-team goalkeeper warm-up before the 5-3 win against Ipswich Town.
Wrexham have invested heavily in their academy infrastructure since the takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with the club aiming to strengthen its youth pathway after years in which resources were limited by life outside the EFL.
Their under-18s reached the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup last season, the best run in the club’s history, and the new scholarship group is another step in that wider rebuild.
Lewis is joined in the intake by Finn Bridges, Joe Williams, Lenny Lowe, Ben McEvoy, Sebastian Saverimutto, Jayden Smyth and Evan Lewis.
